Default side wheel carrier location on frame ?

I'm converting a 1930 Murray bodied 4 door into a pick-up, cab has been
shortened and welded up, I've just installed the last wheel well into the fenders , now I'm trying to locate the correct position on the frame as well as on the splash apron to install the wheel carriers. I have all the Technically Speaking and How To Restore
series of books but cannot find any reference to measurements for the 30/31.
The book Technically Speaking volume 4, page 52 shows the frame mounting location for the 28/29 only and makes no reference to the 30/31.

They all mount in the same place.

There should be three little dimples where you drill the holes for the mount. They are in the same spot for the 28-31.

just a follow up for anyone planning on doing this. Today I finally installed the side mount bracket on the passenger side. I had been looking in a Mikes Affordable Model A catalog and noticed they had a drawing of the hole location for side mount on the splash apron which showed center of hole 2 inches down from top of apron and 4 inches back from front of splash apron on a 30/31, so I got out the measuring equipment and thats when I found the dimples in the frame, they look like four center punch marks (for the bracket) and they were spot on in relation to the front of the splash apron. I couldnt see the center punch marks previously but this time I had more light. Hope this helps others

I found 3 dimples for 3 holes in the bracket for my 28 .

Why have you got 4 ?

Is the 4th one in the middle ?

I have 2 other brackets that if they are ford fit differently.

Can these be 30/31 ?

It must go through the vertical part of the splash apron and the large nut that holds the arm looks like there must a large central hole in chassis for it to fit through.

The 28 bracket just bolts on with 3 bolts and the arm taper bolts into it clear off the chassis and the arm goes through the top horizontal part of the splash apron.

The side carrier bracket which mount to the frame on my 1930 have three holes to mount the bracket to the frame and one big hole for the arm assembly which fits into the bracket in a horizontal manner , hence the four holes or 4 center punch marks on the 30/31 frame. The big arm also goes through the Model A frame

The 28/29 has a different setup according to the pics shown by parts suppliers as the side support arm does not go through the frame, it mounts vertically into their respective bracket. So three punch marks would be in order

Pooch:
like you say - on the 28/29 the arm must go through the top of the splash shield - that sounds right because the carrier support mounts vertically in its bracket.
And the 30/31 fit through the side of the splash shield as it mounts horizontally through the frame

I wonder if that large hole in the chassis side member would contribute to frame sag ?

Even though it seems it would be similar to the steering box hole, it is in a much more weight stressed position just behind engine mount.

Not only the metal that is missing, but the weight of the spare wheel as well.

Virtually no affect on bending. Like an I beam, the [ section Model A frame consists of parallel top and bottom chords separated by a vertical web that essentially serves as a spacer. When the beam, or frame bends the top chord compresses and the bottom chord stretches. Holes in the separating web (side of the frame) factor little into the point at which the modulus of elasticity (stretch/compression limit) of the parallel top and bottom chords are exceeded and the bend becomes permanent.
