Default '32 4-Banger in this Forum or Model A section??

I have a few posts in the Early V8 section....with V8's in a '32, '35 & '39. I now also have a '32 4-Banger with a Riley Racing OV 4 port set-up. Are queries discussed here or do I go to the Model A section?? Robert

I'd recommend here as your first choice, but try both to see who responds best to your specific questions.

Model A cars are just that. Perhaps the moniker for this section of the forum should have just been plain Early Fords but the V8 defined the big change from the Model A era. The early Ford era includes Model B plus the little 9N, G & H series 4 & 6 cylinders as well as the 60HP and larger V8s. 1948 has been the sometimes recognized time of change from the early Ford era and the later post war Ford era but the flathead V8 was produced well into the 1950s so the acceptable change over is the change to the overhead valve era of the mid to late 50s, at least when relating to FoMoCo products.

All Ford products from 1932 thru 1953 (1954 in Canada) should be welcome in the Early Ford V8 section. Model B engines are discussed in the Model A section from time to time since they were a good upgrade for the Model A cars but not so much for the purist as the daily or long distance driver.

Thanks guys...I needed that confirmation.
Bill W.....running full three 97's on progressive linkage. The build sheet on this engine is 4 pages long...crower rods, ross pistons, V8 oil pump, and so, so much more. Engine is hooked up to a V8 trans, torque tube, B-W overdrive, 3.78 rear end with modified 28 spline axles. The front end is all original Ford stuff...ok...original '39 L-Z front brakes on '32 spindles....Mor drop axle, K-H wire wheels, etc. Goal is to keep everything true to the early 50's era. And yes, at a dyno test, 160 HP produced, and it does haul out in good style. Robert

Hey Robert,
Yeah, a lot going on there...both $$$$$ wise and style ! Only thing I'd think to change...chrome wires ?

Congrats, I've wanted to put my 'stuff' , about same internals B, into a 5 window...but they are tooo expensive these days. Good job !
BTW...the A side guys will love gawking at this...for sure ! So, the comments on that are not warranted (these days). AND, if truth be known, IMO...there were more fours (Bs) sold first year than V8. So where are they? You guys embarrassed to show ..or are they (B engines) all over in the A guys cars and V8 in the early four cars
Personally, I've got the Bees in my As

hardtimes,

With respect, the final '32 model worldwide figures were: passenger car V-8s = 214,159 and passenger car fours = 108,803; commercial vehicle and truck V-8s = 7,576 and fours = 107,746 for grand totals of 221,735 V-8s and 216,549 fours.

In terms of U.S. production, the gap was much larger with 192,192 V-8 passenger cars compared to 77,127 Model B passenger cars and 1,366 V-8 commercial vehicles and trucks versus 58,361 fours for grand totals of 193,528 V-8s and 135,488 fours.

All of the above figures are from Ford's actual production records for the period (now kept at the Benson Ford Research Center in Dearborn).

Chrome wires??? Nope...no such thing....but interesting that they do strike a note. They are painted...I call it 'Satin Nickel'.....a combination of Jaguar color and matte clearcoat. I wanted the metal look, and it seems to be working....from your comments. The front end is also done in this finish. Extra photo of the 3 Strombergs 97's with the progressive linkage.

PS...do not know how to enlarge photos...DD did it above...Thks.
