Fan Shroud
Whenever I work on my A and the engine in running the fan really bothers me. Is there anything on the market (Temp or Perm) that will make it safer?

Re: Fan Shroud
Safety is in the hands of the individual. I can;t think of anything that would require a person to be near the fan when the engine is running. If you are worried about it, take off the fan belt when you are doing you task near the fan.

Re: Fan Shroud
I don't believe anyone is making metal fan shrouds like the originals. I think there are some cheap cheesy plastic shrouds sold by some model A parts suppliers. I have no idea how they fit, but probably not very well. There are still original shrouds out there, but hard to find and expensive.

Re: Fan Shroud
They aren't cheap. I got mine in out of California cost 125$. Saw one at the Pâté swap meet in ft Worth Texas this year, it wasn't any better than mine and was priced at $300!!!!!

Re: Fan Shroud
Ive seen people paint the fan tips yellow so when its spinning you can see exactly where the fan is and a visual reminder its there and spinning. Aircraft typically have these on the propeller tips too

Re: Fan Shroud
I'll second SeaSlugs, I have painted the tips of the fan blade on the AA and it sure helps identify where the fan is while working around the running engine. Still looking for an original fan shroud for my 28 coupe (hard to find for sure) but I may just paint the tips on her fan too.
