Default 41 Brake Drum HELP

Just pulled the drums off and they are .125 oversize WOW! Time for new ones.

Has anyone used the drums that Speedway sells. They say that they are "Bendix brake style" but doesn't the original Lockheed brake and the Bendix brakes use the same drums? I know the Bendix shoes are 2" and the Lockheed are 1-3/4" but does that matter with the drums - shouldn't they work with either width shoe

They may be for modern studs, you should call and ask. If so you would have to replace the 41 studs.

"We offer these new iron 12" x 2" brake drums with a 5 on 5-1/2" bolt circle, which are impossible to find elsewhere. Use this brake drum with our Bendix Style self-energizing 12" x 1-3/4" or 12" x 2" backing plate assemblies for 1937-1948 Ford."

Take a look at MT car products web page. They have very nice Bendix replacement drums and studs for the brake hub with the flange inside the drum, 41 Style (46 style is hub flange outside the drum). Bendix drum for Bendix brakes. They have to clear the backing plates. You can change to Lockheed style but have to change backing plates, hardware etc.

one of the well known ford garages told me only the MT drums are good and usa made. the others are made with poor iron and have fit and balance problems.
