Re: School me on clutches.
Thanks bill. Like the way you talk... No I haven't done a run out on it yet , but that's should be done as one of my next jobs. My daughter will have to read it as I crank up front .. I can hear the moaning now! I'll have a real good look for cracks, but I don't think so.
I am about to go strip the gearbox but I doubt there is much to save.. It had me thinking that if the parts really add up I could just about buy the flat attack conversion to fit a Toyota 4 speed auto...mmm? Oh and I have got Macs book, be lost without that. Mart, it's a good point your making. the rake is not too bad, when I pulled the torque tube a bit of oil came out, seemed a normal amount to me . When doing regular oil checks really not much out of both, mainly due to the leaks they have.

Synco. rings.. get new... also check the second gear for wabble ?? it should not. that's what kicks it out of second gear. at times ?? replace the bushing in second gear..its a press out/in thing... would like to see the cluster when you get it out ?? and a tooth count ? P.S. use Mac's for reference, but order parts from Van Pelt....he's a barner, and one of us..........OLD.....BILL |

Re: School me on clutches.
Just about nothing is salvageable . Only the shifter tower is good..the best part was the cluster and that has broken teeth, I found two end plates and I'm not sure if the wire ring is even a part? Have a look at the end of the shaft looks like it's been dropped? I had to bash the synchro hub off.. The 4 speed auto is looking better by the minute... Now to check the flywheel..
