Ford v8 built at the UK Dagenham plant. 48 -52. A" stop gap" UK big Ford post war before they introduced the Zephyr 6 range that ran into the 70's. Used a 21 stud v8 cast the same as a US 37 with the firing order on the heads., unusual in that it had 50/50 cable/juice brakes. This is very fair price for this car when you compare it with some of the pieces of "crap" people want $30k for down here at the "ass end of the world". Our dollar against the US dollar is sitting at about 65c at the moment.

Ps; came with factory twin exhaust. Ihad a set of pilot exhaust manifolds that had been put on a 39 Merc motor i have, but gave them away to the late 52 Merc (Trev howse) 20 years ago. Also had UK "prince of darkness" Lucas electrics as well.

Graeme, have a mate here in Napier with a restored Pilot he is a member of Early V8 and his car is a beauty I remember as a kid seeing a couple around Palmerston North and one wrecked by the Pohangina River would assume there is not many left?

Thanks for sharing the photos. A "stunning" automobile! I did have one question. Why do old guys looking at old cars, always have their hands in their pockets?

I hope you don't get into the trouble I got into for posting a link on the Model T forum to some Model N Parts on Trade Me . The seller contacted me and abused me for marketing his parts. Some how he figured that the internet offered him some exclusivity in his marketing !!

Trevo the wreck you want to find in the Manawatu is the early Stanley steamer that the city engineer drove off the Ashhurst Saddle road into bush in 1922 - To my knowledge it has never been found

Amazing ! Speaking of hands-in-pockets, how about butts sticking out door openings.

This is an original Advertisement for the Ford Pilot. They were also sold in Australia.
The Windscreen Frames in these Pilots are very desirable, as they fit the 1935 and 1936 Ford Sedans and Coupes. These Pilot Frames are Chrome Plated Brass and last forever, unlike the original Frames in the 1935 and 1936 Fords.

Here in the UK if you bought an American car with right hand drive, you would be considered to be a pansy. Doesn't the same apply in the US ?

Beautiful car! We had one at our EFV-8C/A, ENM in Gettysburg, Pa., in 2014. Pictures should still be up on a post I made here on that meet.
I tried to join Trade Me, but the application states that you you must be an Australian or New Zealander to be a member.

WOF is warrant of fitness. It is the mechanical safety check all cars are required have in NZ, 6 monthly for older stuff. Newer cars only have to have them yearly.

Lovely Pilot for sale alright. We had two in our family over the years. Both good cars with nicely finished robust body work. One had been owned by the Catholic clergy who apparently had quite a few.I think they were a derivative of the pre war English V8 60.They were used during WW2 as staff cars etc. with the 221 engine. Why didn't we keep one ??? Woah... a pilot survived? i thought they got wrecked or used as the base for race cars many years ago. And it's so tidy.
