Default 40 Tudor front seat parts

What I'm trying to find is the chrome pieces that go on the seat backs where the inside pins go into the seat frame, I don't know what they are called but I need both right & left.
Thanks, Bob.

I don't think anyone repops those. Wouldn't be too difficult to make. Advertise for a pair?

You're looking for something that did not exist in a '40 tudor.

Terry, Are you 100% certain those came on tudor sedan seats authentically?

I continue to learn new things but I too have never encountered these on a '40 seat.
I'd have to see some proof that they existed.

I don't realy care, my 40 Tudor is a nostalgia street rod. When I bought it 42 years ago it had one.

They keep the seat back material from catching on the center pin upright. I'm redoing the interior and want them ot protect my seat.

Kube......I have them on my 40 sedan Tudor. They are located on the lower inside corner of each seat. They act twofold......they cover up a couple of things down there, as well as act as a seat stop when the seats are moved back in position and rest on a stationary button. I have a picture but can't attach here for some reason ! They are chrome.

What are they called? Proper name, or industry term

I know what they are and where they go. I have not seen them on a 40 before...

I also have them on my tudor and they are chrome. I also have an original seat from an opera coupe that has the original upholstery on it and it also has them on it.

I was wrong [my wife is not surprised], they are on my 40 tudor seat. Kind of hard to see. But they are where Mike said they are.

Mike: The entire seat assembly for the 40 Tudor and the Business coupe have the same part numbers. I can not locate a part number or a description name for the part, probably because it came as a larger assembly. The foot rest is also not listed as a seperate item in the parts book, but the covers for both are listed. I also can not locate a part number for the floor (Tar Paper) sound insulation either in the 39 or the 40 body parts books. These books do have some pitfalls. Look for the two mounting holes for the small screws that hold these shields in place, one above and one below the center hinge pin of the backrest.

Thanks Terry, I continue to learn.

I do know that parts books are not the final answer. Many parts were simply never offered as service replacements so they would not have been listed in any parts manual.
Yep, I keep learning.

Here's some more photos of the mythical seat back shields on 1940 Ford split back seats. Their purpose is to prevent the upholstery from tearing when moved back and forth at the pivot point. These have been on every split back seat car, tudors, convertibles and parts cars that I've had in the past 38 years. NOSPARTSMAN

nospartsguy.....glad you sent this, as I could not see the cotter pin hole from my angle here.

One of mine is "askew" and wished to screw in the missing screw.

Thx...Mike

I have them in my Convertible and also have some sedan seats in the barn and they are on them also.
I am not concerned at all if they are original at this point in the game.

Right. Who is to say that every 40 left the line with these in place on the seats?
We were not there that day .This is just an example why I judge my cars myself .

There's two words that should not be used when it comes to the specifics of any Ford V-8. Those words are "always" and "never". When one of those words is used there's somebody out there to prove you are wrong. Many times there were differences in the cars from assembly plant to assembly plant and there were differences in the items supplied by outside suppliers.

I would call them escutcheons. They cover the area where the hinge pin/pivot pokes through the seat back fabric giving a finished look.
