Re: Wheels for 48 Ford
It will depend on the offset (backspacing) of the 7" wheel you want to use,
as there are various offsets available on 7" wheels. .

You might want to ask this one over on the HAMB, too.

Re: Wheels for 48 Ford
15 x 7 rim has a total edge to edge width of 8 inches. That's pretty wide, especially after you put a big tire on it. You may find the tire will hit the spring shackle mounts - even with a 4 inch back space. It may also rub against the inner fender panel when cornering. Can you borrow a 15x7 rim and do a "mock-up"?

Re: Wheels for 48 Ford
If you have lever shocks, you also run the risk of the wider tire rubbing against it as well.

Re: Wheels for 48 Ford
Al, Here is one way to figure out what you need. I did it on my 40 Ford. Cut out a big cardboard circle and bolt it to your break drum. From that cardboard piece you can measure off your back spacing and front spacing of your 7 inch rim. Remember your 7 in. rim is actually 8 inches total outside width. Glue pieces of cardboard perpendicular to you big cardboard circle to show where the outside edges of your rim will be at its widest point. Then go to a tire chart to find out the "tire width" or "Cross Section" measurement and diameter of your tire will be when the tire is mounted on that rim. Open this and scroll down.http://www.widewhitetires.com/CokerVintageBias.html Then, once you know the tirewidth cut a strip of cardboard with a slot in it for that tire width and and position it on the edge of your big cardboard circle. Now you have a visual mock up of your rim and tire at it widest points so you can see any clearance issues. Be sure to consider ANY other parts of the suspension that might hit you tire or rim. Hope this helps.
