Been very happy with Grundy. Have had several claims from road trips. They sent an adjuster (happy with both of them), They paid the claims no problem. Previously had Hagerty even passed out their pens, pins & pamphlets at shows & swap meets, no charge. I looked over my new policy & they wanted roadside assistance that I didn't want. So went with Grundy & been very happy for 10+ years.

Perhaps to make the point, the type of coverage is not mentioned. If it was for other than fire and theft, your photo does not scream road worthy.

Like I said David- diff strokes diff folks. apparently you are their audience.

One vote here for Hagerty. They have insured all my cars for years. As a bonus, they
also publish a great bimonthly magazine among other services. We use an "agreed value" plan.

My son (51 yrs old) was riding the 55 pan head i gave him when a guy turned into him and broke his leg and damaged the bike , bike was ins through Hagerty for 10 grand , hagerty offered 6900 and they take the bike, PAUL SAID NO WAY, had to take 6500 in order to keep the pan. Why offer 6900 totaled when insured for 10,000, 3000 deductable ?

If cost is no object, you can’t beat Chubb when you have a claim, but not cost-effective for vintage cars except for excess liability layer.

I was turned down with J.C.Taylor also. wouldn't insure our running stock '41 Ford when we bought it. Said to try after we got it restored. Hagerty, I have collected from them 4 times with no problems. Largest was 12K for damage to our '41 Ford from hitting a deer.
I found some hidden damage and they paid out more within a week.

Hagerty has never even wanted a picture of the 5 rides I have insured. I tell them the value, they say it'll cost you this much. Never had a claim, but THEY claim you get full amount and keep the car on a total loss. Hope I never have to find out if its BS

Same. In fact, I just finalized my policy for my AV8 build. I had an "under construction" policy while the car was being built.

We agreed on a price of $40K and they didn't want a pict. I asked to send a few just to have on record with them.

I have used my late model carriers and been very happy with rates and claim service. Owners covered my 52 Vic for the same amount as Hagerty & paid towing without a question. Used State Farm once, lost a wheel cover and they bought a new one no questions asked. Just saying .......

It's interesting that there should be so much ado about insurance agents, such as Hagerty and J.C.Taylor, when it is the insurance carrier itself that sets the rules for the claims it will honor.

True, but it is usually impossible to deal directly with the insurers themselves, so you almost always have to deal through an agent. In such a case, you want to use the best agent available; a good agant can be valuable.

Under construction coverage is a good point, guilty of it myself. Found out the fine print last time on replacement cost coverage on household with AM FAM last year. It's not what you think. Was ok until 3 years ago. Just my latest experience, sorry for rant.

Haggerty also saved a friend of mine a lot of money. He built a replica of a Aston Martin DB1 from scratch. Not an exact replica as he widened it a little to fit his frame, but close enough. He had been insuring it with another company as a "Hot Rod", and when the Haggerty guy saw a picture, he said, " That is a replica of a DB1" and the rate was much less.
