Default Pop pop pop...Need down draft help!

I put a burns downdraft intake on my Model A with a single 94 (model 8ba) carburator. Car is bone stock, and figured this would be a bit better carb than the leaky warped tillotson. Plus it looks neat. So i got it all set up and running this afternoon. Went to take it out for a drive and got to the end of my driveway before POP POP POP out the tailpipe like it had just run out of gas. Would not take any throttle at all. Stopped and let it rest at idle and it would take throttle again. Not another 800 feet and the same thing. Im thinking it might be that im using the stock gravity feed from the tank, but iv seen others run a similar setup and i imagine they dont have this problem.

Any imput? Im saving my pennys for a Stromberg 81

The carbs too big in the first place and could need work internally. It could be made to work right with a jet change and smaller power valve by some one who knows what hes doing. OMO. ken ct.I have some 81's /stroms and ford ones!

Don't waste your money on an 81, a 97 will work better. I'm running three 81's on my speedster and it is not too much. Start with stock jetting and you may need a fuel pump, regulated to 3 psi max.

Let's see a picture of your setup, before purchasing a pump.
'28/'29 tank supply is LOWER than that of '30/31 tank (you don't say which you have).
Likewise, some downdraft intakes are HIGHER than others, which of course will affect gravity flow.

Try this prior to ANY change in what you have setup now.....fill the gas tank and see if your problem (pop/whatever)still exists. If no longer exists...you've narrowed down to fuel feed,eh! If problem continues..well I'd then look a carb condition.

Most current 94 kits have a rubber tip inlet needle that often has a tendency to stick shut. With gravity feed there is little force to blow it open.
