Fan Belt Slips Off
The fan belt on my Runabout keeps slipping off. I've tried tightening and loosening but still slips off. What is causing that?

Re: Fan Belt Slips Off
The pulleys need to be parallel and have a slight crown. Check carefully what you have.

Re: Fan Belt Slips Off
I noticed a set screw on the water pump pulley. I will try adjusting it and see if it stays on better.

Re: Fan Belt Slips Off
It might just be the photo angle, but are the centers of each pully in line?

Re: Fan Belt Slips Off
I'll check the center alignment of the pulleys. I'm concerned about how close the belt is to the timer.

Re: Fan Belt Slips Off
Try a straight edge on the outside flat surfaces of the pulleys. Make adjustments. JMHO

Re: Fan Belt Slips Off
I have used these guides that just bolt to a timing cover bolt.

Re: Fan Belt Slips Off
Try a slightly smaller ID belt ,
That way it's sits tightly in the groove, Also use CRC belt grip to help lubricate the belt. |

Re: Fan Belt Slips Off
I removed the water pump and i'm seeing how things go. It leaked and I tried installing new packing with poor results. The belt slipping off problem is solved. I'll find out if my radiator is in good shape this summer if not before.
