Default 1940 frame

Doing some repair work on a 40 sedan frame. Frame is bare no body (just frame)
If I remove the center box / section on the X member , will the frame pop
in other words is the frame under a load ? I need to replace this box and repair rust. Will I have problem with rivet hole alignment for new plates ?
Any advice
CR.

Who knows what that frame has seen during it's lifetime?! Maybe a few fender benders serious enough to tweak the frame; getting T-boned, taken off-road and getting twisted a little (or a lot)? Take plenty of measurements before knocking the rivets out, especially diagonally so the body will fit when you're done.

i cross brace any frame im working on to remove any cross members, tack weld a piece of metal on the front and rear of frame, one in and rear and front of where your working, those will hold the frame in the exact position it was when you started working on it, remember i said TACK weld the braces in place, when done just cut the tack welds and grind off any left over welds
