12" drum/backing plate question
I could use some help identifing these front backing plates with 12" drums.
They look like Lincoln because of the stepped wheel cylinder size? Anyone know the years they fit? Thanks Mark |

Re: 12" drum/backing plate question
Lincolns used Bendix design brakes. Fords used the 12" Lockheed type as pictured.

Re: 12" drum/backing plate question
Thank you for your replies, I found some information at Joblot. 1940 was the only year Ford had a cast 12" drum without a hub. This is the later drum and hub, I turned it over and looked inside.
Thanks to all, Mark Last edited by Mark Slight; 12-16-2012 at 06:14 PM. |

Re: 12" drum/backing plate question
Hub and drum are 2 pieces but the studs are swaged over like a rivets and they do not come out easily.
