Re: What happened to the newtown,ct thread
This is a difficult topic. On the one hand it is very traumatic for everyone in the US, and around the world... and what we need to for our own mental health is to talk about our feelings. On the other hand those feelings easily turn angry or blatently political and become distructive. Kudos to Ryan and all for allowing this forum and making the difficult decisions to maintain decourm here.
btw I was perifirally involved in the incident with the shooter at the Clackamas Town Center Mall on Tuesday... Our (volunteer) fire engine company was moved up to cover areas where the first in fire companies were at the mall. These incidents can touch us all. |

Re: What happened to the newtown,ct thread
Karl Wescott, obviously some guys simply do not know how to behave. They are supposed to be grown, adult men ... yet, even in this thread which supposedly is meant to memorialize the deaths of small children, they revert to vulgar language and anger/nastiness towards each other.
This is the very behavior that has been widely discussed as signs of the deterioration of America's culture in reference to the root causes of tragedies like Newtown. For Heaven's sake, when honoring the small children lost at Newtown, please do not use words and express yourselves in a manner that is in itself abusive to children. Millions of little children survived Newtown. They live among us. I dread the bad examples that adults set for them and the terrible environments that adults place them in.

Re: What happened to the newtown,ct thread
With everything going on in this world a person could start a thread and it may take off in a million different directions. Perhaps if we stuck to Early Fords and avoided other topics........ however timely they may be...... we would all be better off. It would also make visiting this site more enjoyable. I personally like the fact that when visiting this site ...everything else fades into the background and it's just Ford stuff.
