Default I feel a little safer. Turn signals installed

I finally got signal lights installed on Apatchy.

My buddy, Kelly Thomas, a Journeyman electrician, in our small Regional Group, hooked it all up for me, and I kept him company, handed him tools and grunted and groaned for him at appropriate moments.

I chose to hide the front signal lights in the horn trumpets as I had converted to sealed beams and did not want to hang just any old light out there as an eyesore.

It all looks great, works well, and I'm glad it's all behind me (us) now. LOL

Thanks Kelly, great job AND A TRUE FRIEND.

It's good to have friends who know what they are going.

I know the feeling of feeling better about driving with turn signals.

I really need turn signals. I'm not sure if the young'ns even know what I'm doing with my chicken arm pointing out straight out or up to the sky.
Is there a specific kit that you could recommend for a 6 volt system? And would your friend drive out here to Colorado to help me?
Thanks, Phil

There are a bunch of different ones on eBay. I got the $49+ from Mr.Fifty on eBay. Works great. Copy of an original and looks period. My electrician buddy said to get 20 gauge wire as that would be plenty large for turn signals. No 12 or 14.

Lawson, I bet your buddy would have appreciated you handing him beers at appropriate times and leave the grunts and groans for him to enjoy.

If you still have 6 volt system with original type incandescent bulbs, I would think you need 16 ga. wiring. If you have 12 volt system and/or LED lamps, you can safely use 20 gauge wiring.........Bob L

Took me a long time, but did it myself on my 40 and i'm not an electrician by a long shot.
(not bad for an old man of 79 soon to be 80)
Now i'm tackling the adjustment of the hood-grille-fenders, MAN-alive-what a terrible job that is, ......push-pull-tug-pry-swear a little: well maybe more than a little, but i'm gaining...almost there.

Yes i did, and some of the holes for the bolts on the hinges are so big they're like the Grand Canyon.

I was under and all over the truck a couple of times myself, and I am 83, soon to be 84. After Getting the truck home I discovered a much better and less conspicuous way to run the extra wires . Why didn't I think of that that right off? Now I am going to re-route them by myself. It may lay me up in the bed a few day days. LOL

Where did that idea come from to hide them in horns. Lawson? Did you see it somewhere?

Someone on the Barn mentioned it. May even be in this thread. Check it out. If not, I'll see if I can locate it. I made a small L bracket to attach to the bulb socket in order to position bulb in center of trumpet.

Do you blow your lights or blink your horn?

Are the turn signals self canceling? If not, I often drive around with mine on. I have purchased a beeper to attach so I know they are on, but I have not installed it yet.

No, they are not self cancelling but do flash a red light when they are on. Mine came with a beeper, but I haven't figured out how to install it yet.
