Default Tool for cleaning out water jackets-head off

Well, the head torquing did not fix the exhaust fumes from entering the water jacket ( did another block test) so I'm now in the process of removing the head to replace the gasket. If the water jacket tubes are filled with deposits, what is the best tool to get down in there to ream them out? I also have a flexible magnet that will fit down in the tubes a ways. Once I get them as clean as I can ( if they need it at all) I'll flush them out with a pressure washer.....the radiator disconnected of course. Once back together I have a Gano filter installed to catch any remaining junk loosened up.

I've heard a frayed length of speedo cable chucked up in a drill works well.

Speedo cable or small diameter wire rope, turn it CCW or it will unravel.

Good idea to break up the trash at the rear of the block but this has no direct relation to exhaust in the cooling system. If you can't find a crack or an issue with the head gasket you need to pressure test the block and / or head. Air pressure in block with passages on deck sealed off with rubber. Then spray soap solution everywhere to look for bubbles. If there is a leak, you'll find it. A few shops have a pressure test bench to do this after the block is renoved and stripped. Can be done with the kit that is available from the suppliers.
