I disagree I think it is because they are tremendously shoddy quality and I hate them for that not that they are poor reproduction if you will. I agree that the price is within reason, there are people that don't know better that like them.

Although my post wasn't addressed to you specifically, note I said nothing about quality. I would agree it may not be the best but I think "tremendously shoddy" is a little over-the-top. Admittedly, improving performance and fit/finish has become almost a cottage industry among Shay owners. Nevertheless, there is plenty of Shay-hate among purists because they're not "real" Model A, even though they never were intended to be. Again, love them or hate them for what they are, not for what they're not. Dunno about you, but it's not up to me to judge whether Shay fans "don't know better."
