The Mercury Yesterday
Nice spring weather here and the yard has dried up enough that I could get out with the Merc for some driving yesterday. Worked great. Got some photos and video. The drone went a little out of control on auto pilot and hit the back window of the Merc but luckily no damage to either.

Good to see that you can get the old Mercury out for a drive again. Take care and keep safe. |

Re: The Mercury Yesterday
As usual an interesting video.
Regarding oil on the floor, it's most likely a faulty seal between the torque converter and transmission that allows the oil to drain back into the transmission, causing an over full condition Then the oil will drip out of the shift lever shaft (which probably has a poor seal) To verify this, when it has not been run for a period of time and before starting, check the oil level. It will most likely show way over full. Kinda looks like your reading shows below low to me.

Re: The Mercury Yesterday
Hi Ralph, nice video and glad you’re running the old Merc on a beautiful day. I spied the rear window of an earlier Ford car in your garage. What do you have hiding over there? Hunt

Re: The Mercury Yesterday
You noticed the 39 Deluxe that has been here even longer than I have. (My parent's wedding car) Here is a photo from back when it was still driving. I still need to order one of Skip's rebuilt coils for it.

Re: The Mercury Yesterday
I would change the oil. When oil sits for a long time the sediment sinks to the bottom and it looks clean when you check it. Also the Ph changes when burned sulfur compounds contaminate the oil and it becomes more acidic and corrosive. Not good.

That’s a nice ‘39 Fordor, Ralph. I hope you are able to get it going sometime soon.
