Engine number stamped on block?!
Trying to get to the bottom of persistant mis-fire, I decided to take carb apart, and found 41 main jets! Put 51's in out of parts carb I had lying around, and the car is completely transformed. Goes so well now it makes the brakes a tad marginal....!
So what I took to be an electrical problem seems to mainly be weak fuel mixture. In an attempt to be more scientific, I wanted to mount a vac gauge and air/fuel meter. As there are no ports on the intake, I pulled it off to drill a hole for my vac gauge rubber tube... There on the block, rear drivers side, is this stamped number, which is the same as the chassis plate on the fire-wall. Large "18" preceeding frame number. This is a car sold new in Denmark, so seems to have its ID numbers in very unusual places, presumably different national law? Very excited to get matching numbers. cheers, Tom. |

Tom, you may know this already but Van Pelt Sales has a good article on serial numbers on their website. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...ialnumbers.htm
