Default first shake down ride

Hi folks, im looking for thoughts, I took my 34 for its first ride after extensive body off resto. It has a 59ab but is mostly all original. It went well but then developed some surging, not a skip but just a big loss of power. I headed for home and at one point the power came back but then back to bad. Once home it would no longer idle but would re start. The next day It started and I went for a shorter ride and it was fine. The first ride when the issue happened I was pushin it along at a good pace (up to 60 at one point). It has a new drake gas tank, new gas line, rebuilt fuel pump with filter in the glass bowl, rebuilt 94 carb. Also has rebuilt bubba crab dist. Car has been converted to 12v neg ground and Im using 12v coil with built in resistor. Plugs and wires new. I havnt found anything obvious yet. Ken
