modelT touring top
hello--i have attached a photo to help explain my question. the bar shown does not stay horizontal , instead it is bent down slightly. see yellow tape attached to the bar. is it supposed to be straight when the top is up and the front bow is screwed into the stanchions? if it supposed to be straight, what may the problem be? thank you. sorry the picture did not rotate in the email.

Re: modelT touring top
Has it worked properly before? I think when the top is unfolded that part is pushed up past center. could be wrong tho.

Re: modelT touring top
It looks like the rear curtain or straps are not holding the rear bow in it's proper place. If they were tighter the irons would be more straight.
My Humble opinion. |

Re: modelT touring top
Disconnect the top from the windshield and push the top frame so it's straight like it should be. Now look at where the tips on the windshield stanchions compared to the holes they fit into. Your windshield looks like it's leaning too far back and may be the problem.

Re: modelT touring top
Agree with Layden
The top irons and bows are for Improved Ford, '26-'27 touring car. You can see the odd fit on your '23-'25, (refined your photo) The correct top iron set would be like the one in the grass. The front bow runs to a upward like 'knuckle' to the upper folding arm. The '26-'27 folding arm is straight, plus many other differences (view in photo with '27 body top irons on, rear view mirror on windshield). You need to replace with correct earlier top iron and bow set. |
