Default Greasing u-joint on 31

I have been looking for a video of greasing the u-joint on a model a. I have the ford 4 forward speed transmission and want to bolt everything up and install the motor and transmission together and the hook the driveshaft up to the transmission. I have never greased an A u-joint before and am looking for direction.

I believe I have read here to install motor and transmission together. Then bolt the transmission to u-joint. Is this best? I heard it takes one whole tube of grease and you will get it all over your hands. Direction please and a link to a video doing this. Thanks

First I fill the housing with grease after the thing is together. Take the speedometer cable housing off and pump grease in thru the fitting on the U-joint cover. The grease fitting points down to drivers side. Make sure the bowl has the hole pointed the same way. When you see grease start to come out the hole stop and reinstall the speedo drive. Ware gloves and use a grease gun. You might still get a little grease on your hands! That's what soap and water are for.

Grease is a man's hand lotion. Maybe it will keep your skin from cracking in the wintertime.

is the trans/engine sliped to the driveshaft yet? if not just pack about a can of grease in by hand. Much easier than the grease gun.

Are you reinstalling the transmission/engine or is is this a new install? Do you have all the correct parts? If this is new install make sure you do some test fitting to make sure all the parts will work together. You need a special U-joint the fit both the car drive shaft splines and the splines on the transmission output shaft.

Remodelt, this is a brand new engine for my car and B bellhousing and later Ford 87 truck transmission all ready for my car. Have had all of this for a while now and want to get busy and get reinterested in getting the car running. Is this a two piece clamshell I heard referred to before? If so, you say make sure the grease plug is pointed down and towards drivers side. What do you mean make sure the bowl has the hole the same way. Do you have a picture of it?
Seaslugs the engine is separated from the bellhousing. Bellhousing is bolted to the new transmission.

Are you sure it's a "B" bellhousing? Most of these mods used a "AA" bellhousing.

Hopefully its a AA Bellhousing as I believe the Model BB Bellhousing doesn't have the lip to properly center the Bellhousing to the Engines centerline.

Sorry that should have been down on the passenger side. I thought I changed that in rewrite. Yes the clam shell is the two piece part. The bowl fits inside. I am going to step away from any further help on this one. It sounds like you are mixing some part that may not work together or may just work fine. I was thinking you were installing an AA 4 speed and AA bell housing. Hope everything works out.

And the red and sticky kind helps keep your gloves on. Old farmer trick.

CarlG, yes I should have said AA, sorry for my misstatement. It seems no one has filmed this. Can't find a YouTube video.
