Default Rear Main Bearing oil Slinger

I have a B engine on which the oil slinger for the rear main bearing has been removed. I haven't had any luck with those one piece neoprene seals so I'm wondering whether anybody has had the slinger replaced. I've dreamt up a couple of ways of doing it but can't see any point reinventing the wheel. Besides, it's a lot of work to make a second attempt if the first isn't successful.
Any photos? (they speak a thousand words each)
Thanks in advance.

Hello Syncro909,
Plenty of horror stories regarding modern rear main seal failures, I have read that James Rogers can repair the removed slinger, of course being so far away he cant help except maybe a tip or to, finding someone with the skills is another story, I would look for another crank.
Good luck and Regards Brian.

I've seen Rich rebuild them by heating the crank in that area and building it up with solder. He then turns it to the right size on his lathe. The slinger looks like it was never removed when Rich is done.

Yes, Jim has posted that he repairs the "better way" often.

Thanks Brian,
I'm sure there are people here with the skills and you're right, it's too far away to send the crank to James. I've asked him for some tips but get no reply. As for another crank, B motors are not very common over here.
Still stuck!

I make a conversion kit that uses a Chevy v-8 seal. It requires a fair amount of machine work to install but its a bulletproof solution. e-mail me at dmcgearsatyahoodotcom if you would like more information. Dan

I built a fixture that I can replace the slinger on a Model A but don't have one for the B crank. I could build one but have never had a reason to so, I would have to design one and fabricate it. The one for A's works great and when done, you cannot tell it from the original and it works the same.
