Tool Size?
Can someone tell me what size tool i can buy to take the main bearing square nuts off? (socket) I have a bad center main shot. Thanks RAY

the square heads of the front and center main bearing bolts are 9/16". You need a 9/16 eight point socket wrench.

I just hold the bolt and unscrew the nut, which is 3/4". This is easier, and more critical when tightening the mains as tightening the bolt has a lot of friction so you don't get a true torque measurement or feel.

21/32" Is the proper size. As others say they work with other sizes..

There is a "special" tool, many times it can be found in the 1$ box under the table at fleamarkets.
Also there is a small point on one of the corners of the square, it is so you know the location of cotter hole at the other end. |
