Default Glass Bowl Filter Question

Guys, A Model A friend asked me: What is the correct finish on the metal top of a 1930 glass bowl fuel filter? His is painted body color.
Having just moved my Judging Standards are still packed. Can you advise, please. Thanks.

Was a production option used from mid 1929 thru early 31-no indication of finish in JS so assume stern finish or as purchased. unfinished.

Hi Alfin,

All the originals I saw in the 1950's prior to the later Model A Restoration Era were the color of pot metal; however, after Model A renovation began to become popular, many may have been painted along with the firewall paint color.

Alfin,
I wonder if "CAST-BLAST" would satisfy the Judges? It's a really trick, sorta' SILVERY/GREY satin finish. It'll stick to almost ANY surface that's free of WAX or OIL.
Everyone should order a can & "PLAY" around with it. It's HEAT RESISTANT & can be used on Kzhaust manifolds & pipes, I "imagine" it's GAS resistant, also?? I "restored a "stock" muffler that had a MILLION tiny pits, I sanded it with 180 grit EMERY CLOTH & sprayed it with "CAST-BLAST, looks like "NEW"
I do PHONY cad plating by using DULL ALUJIMUM & "WHISK" over it with a SATIN CLEAR.
