Even without a title that looks like a winner. Congratulations.

A couple of friends showed up and took my trailer this morning. They were headed for Keene to pick up a Model A.It's about 80 miles from me.I have no idea if this is the one,but whether it is or not I will wind up with the running gear from it.That's what they do,they step up and pay the price for just the bodies to build rods from. They will make a half hearted attempt to sell the chassis off,but they almost always wind up dropping them off here. They say the Model A guys drive them crazy, they'll spend an hour showing them what they have and get offered 1/4 of what they were asking. They have had some nicely redone chassis, and for the most part they don't get the lowbawllers on those. They say if they're going to give them away they might as well give them to me.

Keith, Over here, any hot rodder knows he can get top $ for anything he doesn't want. A while ago I checked this out but gave up pretty quick. The project I wanted to do just got shelved. If I got a reasonably priced running chassis, I would have been delighted. Even a bare chassis brings up to $1,000!!!! Second hand anything regardless of condition is a find.
I've always been intrigued by how little you guys pay for stuff but get it for free????
I'm envious.

It looks like that's not the car they bought. The one they bought has no wheels,(that's why they used my trailer with the winch). All I heard about it was that it's a rock solid Tudor, complete, parked in the garage in 1961.They just called me to tell me that they were keeping it on my trailer for a few days until they make room in the garage to strip it.The things I get from them for free I really do pay for in one way or another. They've had my trailer up and down the east coast a number of times,to Texas a couple of times, and used it dozens of times locally. When it's local they use truck and all.Unlike some, they do remember when it comes to getting rid of their old parts.

Keith, you're a lucky guy!
I understand their sentiment when it comes to selling.
when folks are retired, they often have more time on their hands then they know what to do with. It can be exhausting...........

Synchro, folks have been sending shipping containers for years your way-nice profit opportunity-what are you waiting for?

supply and demand, what happens when you live on an "island"...............
just kidding there mate!

ronn, I have brought a couple of complete cars into the country myself but as for parts, by the time I go over there, chase all round the country to buy parts, arrange to get them to LA or SF, get them loaded, pay freight and duties etc, they are not all that much cheaper and all for a small market. Add to that the fact that there are lots of parts from your cars (LHD) that are different from ours (RHD) and so are useless and the grey area about what needs a title to get out of the US and what doesn't and it rapidly becomes the stuff of nightmares!!!. On top of all that, the exchange rate is going south too. AAARRRGGGGHHHH!
I have considered the opportunity but concluded that importing parts just wasn't worth it. Most of the containers that have come this way are whole cars.
There are advantages living on an island but this isn't one of them.
