Throw out bearing questions
I have a 41 business coupe with an engine from h and h flatheads that is a 49/53 . It has a scat 4 1/8 stroke crank .Mike at H&H sent me a balanced flywheel clutch and pressure plate. Do I use the same t o bearing for the 41 or buy a different one? It is a 10” clutch. This is my 1st flathead and know very little on what does and doesn’t work.I also have a 47 merc complete with all orig running gear.i would like to say also that the build of the engine is great and his attention to detail is second to none. I am trying to install and get it running.and also I need to know would a Vega steering box help when I run new exhaust? If so,which box? And which headers or Fenton type exhaust manifolds? Lots of questions , lots of confusion. Hemiman392

Re: Throw out bearing questions
All help will be greatly appreciated. I will soon try and put engines and parts for sale in the near future.

Re: Throw out bearing questions
Stock throw out bearing should work if using stock transmission.
Headers can be a mixed bag. Sometimes it takes some jockeying around to make the work. Since its a fendered car and you can't see them out in the open, I would call Red's Headers. Good luck and keep us posted. Sounds like a stout motor you've got there. Edit: I just saw you want a Vega box? All mods need to be installed before you run the exhaust. |

Re: Throw out bearing questions
a vega box is not recommended for a 41,nothing wrong with original box if in good condition

Re: Throw out bearing questions
As noted above, Red's Headers has a pair that will clear your stock steering box without surgery. Very happy with the ones for my '47.
