What an idiot to steal such a flashy and easily recognized car!
He might as well hang loudspeakers on it and broadcast "here I am, come get me!" and put a few strobe lights on for extra effect.

How could the police not find him in that?

Did he leave the keys in it and running with full tank of gas. That color would not be hard to spot plus a station wagon even if he repainted it.

It doesn't pay to leave the keys in the car even if the garage is locked. It is pretty easy to jump the ignition on the older cars, but the Ford steering wheel lock will slow down any thief.

Loud pipes also help.

there have been a few sightings, so were hopeful that it is recovered intact.
As usual, the police are 2 steps behind the criminals

Since the guy was trying to get away from the police, it's doubtful he took it to strip. Probably drove it back in the brush somewhere and left it.

Just remembered another Minnesota stolen vehicle story: In the 1970's a rare antique farm tractor was stolen one night from a dealer in southern Minnesota. No trace of it was found. Over 30 years go by. The thief grows old and dies. His son decides to fix up that old tractor his dad had parked in a shed for years.
So he drives about 8 miles to that same dealer (same guy, still in business) to get some parts! Yep, dealer gets his tractor back, still intact! (Only worth a lot more money now).

I notice from the video that the car was stolen in Ham Lake. Now it sure whould be tough to swim or row a boat in a ham lake. Now, Red Eye Gravy would be a totally different story. LOL

Very Lucky!! Hope there was not too much damage. Some times vandals like to destroy something nice just to prove that they are stupid!
