It sure seems you can find some nicely rebuilt ones for about half of what they're asking for a new one if you don't want to give a shot at rebuilding it yourself. My pockets aren't that rich but its your car! $450 just seems like a LOT to spend on a carburetor!

Some people just like to spend money. I like to learn how to rebuild things properly. I'm sure it's a great product as Snyders is a quality company. Goodluck

A. Rebuild it yourself with a viton valve, renners corner flow tested jet set, and an oversize throttle shaft if yours has play.

B. purchase a rebuilt from Berts have heard good reports and they are priced right

Get one of the units sold by "Tazman" on eBay. He is a neighbor of mine and does super work. Test drives every one on his coupe before it ships. Or contact him about doing your core.

Do you mean the user "novaki" on Ebay? Tazman appears to sell Star Wars figurines, no carburetors...

we use a lot of rebuilt Zenith carburetors from Berts and are very happy with them. OTOH, the V8 guys are using repro Strombergs and Holleys and are very excited about them. Seems with time, the castings wear out and deteriorate, so new is better in their experiences. But Zenith castings are iron, so deterioration is not as big an issue although it does happen. I would feel pretty confident with a good iron casting rebuilt by Berts.

I finally bit the bullet and retired my Tillotson and threw on a rebuilt Zenith from Bert's. No problems, started right up and haven't looked back.

I'm not an expert, so I bought a rebuilt from Bert's. It made the car run like new! Now I have my old one to tinker with. I'll probably try to rebuild it myself using Tom Endy's excellent instructions. Thanks, Tom!

I suggest you contact a member of Lions Gate Model A Club who does high quality carb rebuilds. You can find his name here (scroll down to the bottom of the page) http://www.lionsgatemodelaclub.com/Suppliers.html

Question Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders

"Air Balanced..." I like the sound of that! And, I sure would like to
see what they did to the carburetor to make it that way?!? I know all about the theories concerning air balanced Model-A carbs. too. I just
want to see how they do it.

I have only heard good things about the air balanced carb from Snyder's. Using it allows you to use an air cleaner without altering the gas/air mix. I also heard testament that the achieved fuel economy is also good...over 20 mpg.
Good Day!

Different guy. He has added to his name some numbers. He has sold over a 1000 of them over the years.

Tazman24282428 is his name.

I have a nearly new air balanced carb that someone brought me to rebuild since it didn't work very well. They ended up buying an original zenith rebuild from me and were very pleased that their car ran so well. I kept the air balanced carb just to see what it was all about, quite ingenious actually with internal machining & casting to provide a connection between the float bowl and the air horn. I ran this new carb on my Phaeton and it was a very rough go. Decided not to fool with it and to stick to the original Zeniths that work so well when properly done. I would gladly part with the new, air balanced carb if someone would like it. John Haddon, 604-538-1938, [email protected]

I'm also a fan of the Bert's rebuilt Zenith carburetors. I got the first one after throwing a hissy-fit about some other rebuilt carbs I tried that sucked. Steve went out on a limb and sent the carb to me and said to run it and return it if not satisfied. Couldn't go wrong, so did just that. The new carb ran (and still runs) so well, I refused to send it back, I sent a check instead!

I have since purchased another one from Bert's as a backup. Haven't needed to use it, but just feel better knowing it's there. I won't mess around with anything else now, I'll ONLY run a Bert's rebuilt Zenith. Everyone that hears my car run marvels at how smooth and powerful it is.

Old post I know but based on what you said I bought an air balanced Zenith 1 from Tazman. Just got it installed last week and it looks and works great.

Let me know about the air balanced carb. I might be interested if we can work a deal.
