Default model a fenders

I have a '29 briggs body 4 door that appears to be very original. The front fenders do not match. One has a different angle on the inner panel than the other. As a result, the headlights don't center with the radiator. I have tried different fender braces and it makes no difference. Could it be that one fender is an A and the other is an AA? Also the original upholstery is shot. Should I replace it or keep it to preserve the "original": look?

You may have an early 28 fender. They are slightly different then later 28/29's. Hope this helps. Jeff

A and AA used the same front fenders for the year.

Could be an A and an early AR fender. I have seen this a lot but I don't think that is your headlight bar problem. I think I would be looking for a new headlight bar. Are you sure you have a 28 29 bar and not a 30 31.

My 1928 Roadster Pickup also has an early front fender on the drivers side and the regular front fender on the passenger side.

I have a 28 AR tudor with a standard 29 A left front fender. Are you any where near Pennsylvania? Maybe we could swap.

From experience:

Never be surprised with any strange findings on any restored or un-restored Model A Ford.

Volumes upon volumes could have been written over the past 75 years or so by many to describe both heard of and physically discovered Model A mechanical and Model A electrical abnormalities.

Below is a picture from the Judging Standard showing an early fender (left fender) along side the later more prevalent front fender used in later 28 and 29.

Any chance its the radiator that's askew due to shimming issues?
