Can I get some help? Brake drum (axle) retainers.
Gents, I'm going to make some axle retainers.
If someone has a pair to hand could you help me with the five dimensions on the picture please? A = Depth front to rear overall. B = Width. C = Height D = Material thickness. E = Height of spacer. I can work in metric or imperial, whatever is easiest for you. Thanks in advance. Mart. |

Re: Can I get some help? Brake drum (axle) retainers.
Thanks for looking, Guys, I have been supplied with some dimensions.
I've actually already made one, but just wanted to check it against the commercially available ones. Mine is possibly a little thin, so I've ordered some material to make some more. I'll probably make a few extra pairs for sale here in then UK. Cheers. |

I hope you post a video of making them and the installation, I always enjoy watching them.

The ones I have on my 32 Cabriolet are made out of 3/16 thick material. On the top part (that goes over the drum, they used a piece of a large pipe - such that the radius is concentric with the brake drum radius. Makes the brackets look a lot nicer.

Re: Can I get some help? Brake drum (axle) retainers.
For those without the equipment, skill, or interest in making rear drum retainers, they are available for 39-48 cars, and 39-47 pickups at C&G (800/266-0470) as item number 91A-2215. They mount by use of the wheel cylinder bolts. Hardware and spacers are included.
