28-29 Chinese finger pulls
I recently purchased a reproduction pair of chrome plated windshield finger pulls for my late 28 roadster with correct round w/shield frame. Die cast, nice plating, FoMoCo licensed and apparently made UPSIDE DOWN.
Installed with the curved pull up...not even close fit; with the curve down (which won't allow the w/s to move out...catches on the dash rail) fit-up to the frame is very nice. I'm could re-contour them so they fit, then re-plate....I guess. Lot of expense and effort for $20 parts. Anybody else run into this? I guess it's possible that the holes thru my reproduction w/shield frame are not located properly but I already had it plated so relocating them is out. Re: 28-29 Chinese finger pulls
There is a difference between the 28/29 and the 30/31 finger pulls. The Vintique repro pieces are shaped differently than originals.

Re: 28-29 Chinese finger pulls
Based on the number of times it appears her on the Fordbarn the FoMoCo licensing is the misunderstood by many, maybe even most. Ford licenses the name "Ford", the part number, and in some cases the name of the part . THAT'S IT!!! It does not mean it will fit, it does not mean it has the correct finish, it does not mean Ford has looked at the part in any way shape or form.

Re: 28-29 Chinese finger pulls
A final comment w/pics. Thanks to Roger Van Houten of Monroe, MI fame, I am now the proud owner of a very nice pair original windshield frame pulls. The attached pics show the difference in how they fit the frame vs. the repos.
OOps! Should have rotated the one picture. And again, THANK YOU to Roger. |

As mentioned above, the shape is totally different which 'out-trumps' the poor fit! I know you will be much happier with the genuine ones. |
