Horn Buttons
Fellas i picked up a 35/36 steering wheel over last weekend at a swap meet and i was curious to which horn buttons would work for that wheel. from doing a search looks like all the way up to 39 might but noway to tell if there is a difference in diameters of the parts. i would like to use the "Deluxe" version if anyway possible. do they repop these? anyone have some for sale?
thanks for your time! |

Re: Horn Buttons
The diameter of the area for the light switch handles/horn button assembly on '37 and up steering wheels is smaller than that of the '35-'36 wheels. The only difference between standard and deluxe '35-'36 light switch handles/horn button assemblies is the color of the plastic which was black for standards and color for the deluxes varying by model year and for '36 early or late.

Re: Horn Buttons
so the diameter of the horn button inwhich mates against or mounts to the steering wheel is the same throughout the years, but the switch diameter varies between 2 different sizes. in short, the complete assembly will work for any wheel as long as the parts (switch, and outter peice) share the same diameter, correct?

Re: Horn Buttons
the 35 and 36 button is larger than the 37,38,39 so they will not fit. the 37 is a smaller diameter than the 38/39 which are the same. the only years which interchange are the 38/39.
although a 37 will fit on a 38/39 but will not cover the whole top correctly |

Re: Horn Buttons
On the assumption that you are asking about the whole assembly and not just about the actual horn button, the length of the horn wire tube running down to the light switch at the bottom of the steering gear box may well vary between the various model years also.
