I seem to recall that in my National Guard days, they had 60 Mile per Hour tape or something like that that was supposed to hold tight at higher speeds than a Deuce and a Half would travel.

Also, I think that "Duct Tape" is good for just about anything except taping up ducts.

A week and 40 years ago when my thenwife was in labor with our second child I called my boss and asked if he'd fly us off the island in the middle of the night. He said to meet him at the airport in a half hour. Keep in mind he owned and flew a 1947 Aeronca sedan. About half way through the 20 minute flight (over water) I hear a very loud rapping, flapping, drumming sound coming from the side of of the plane's fabic covered fuselage. The pilot, seeing the fear in my eyes, pulls his headset away, leans towards me and calmly says two words. "Duct Tape", then repositions his head set. Sure enough, as we are waiting for the taxi which will take us to the birth clinic, we see him tear off a 5' strip of laminated duct tape which had let go at it's forward end. He then peeled off a nice new patch using a couple of rolls he kept in the storage area behind the seats. As we got into the taxi, we saw him roaring off into the night sky. And yes, we found him handy.

As a more serious note (but not too serious),

Speed tape: Aluminum backed, similar to duct tape but with stronger adhesive. This is what is "allowed" for temporary aircraft repairs, and also good to use on racing vehicles.

Gaffers tape: Cloth backed, strong adhesive. Stronger and more expensive than duct tape. This might work well as a replacement for Ford's anti-squeak tape.

IIRC the roundy round guys use to call speed tape, "200 MPH racing tape"

"Speed Tape" is commonly referred to in the aviation world as "600 MPH" tape.

In 1972 when I pieced together my '28 A roadster pickup (had $147 in the whole truck!) I couldn't find the trim piece between the windshield & the gas tank so I made it out of duct tape & painted body color, Vagabond green. It's still there now but the paint is finally flaking off so it leaks a little, which is fine as I don't drive in the rain anymore-there's too many idiots aiming at me who don't know how to drive in the rain.

For this '33 . . . will have to focus on a Death Wobble tape, or Adjust Camber tape. Steering Box Worm-Gear/Sector Adjustment tape. Oh, maybe this Stay-in-Your-Lane Multi-Purpose tape would be the one.

Speed Tape, Racing Tape, no; not since '37, and then nowhere close to 200 mph . . .
