Default the usual scams

I am trying to sell a late model car on local want ads, craigslist, and epay. It is amazing the number of scam emails and texts I am getting about selling it. They started within hours of posting.

Here is the latest:

Thank you for getting back to me.Can you assure me that the vehicle is
in good state and that i will not be disappointed with it.I'm ready to
pay your asking price and to be honest, i wanted to buy this for my
Dad and he is a mechanic, but the issue is I'm a marine biologist and
i do have a contract to go for which starts tomorrow and am leaving
any moment from now.The contract is strictly no call due to the lack
of reception on the sea area. But I'm able to access email anytime as
we will make use of laptop so my only quickest payment option is
PayPal as i can send money via PayPal anytime.Since I'm requesting
this transaction to be done via PayPal, i will be responsible for all
the pay pal fee/charges on this transaction and if you don't have an
account with paypal, its pretty easy, safe and secured to open one.
Just log on to "paypal scam site" I hope we can make the purchase as fast
as possible? I have a mover that will come for it once payment clears
and they will be handling the title for me. So i look forward to hear
from you.

1)Your full name
2)Your PayPal email address,
3)Firm Price

Regards!

My reply:
Fine
You must come and see the car personally.
phil

I got the exact message as an answer to my ad....a marine biologist shipping out in minutes!! I told him to have the movers bring hundred dollar bills instead

Great response! Do they really think we are this stupid? Come get the car and bring cash!

But I have to add this... I have dealt with sellers on this forum that absolutely are stellar. I have bought parts that are exactly or better than they tell you.

Ah, you are missing the scam. They want you to click the link and open a paypal account, thereby actually logging on through their fake site and giving them all your password and account info. Then they clean out your bank account.

You are right, I didn't think of their real scam.

It's okay. The link in the post doesn't lead to the scam site. It would take you to the real PayPal site, that is, it looks like it would when I hovered my mouse over it. I didn't click on it to try!

I deleted it just now. I didn't realize that was part of the scam when I posted it. I did however realize that "give me your firm price" and "paypal account number" was a scam. I'm also getting scam phone calls by people with heavy accents.

I checked out the same way and got the same result. I wonder if the original message might have had a different destination and when it was copied to post it got updated? Sure wish I really understood these computers.
