"Crabby Monday !" at Bubbas
Five a day ? Its Crabby monday at Bubbas and i am not going home until they are done???
Three aluminum 11As and two cast iron 11As. I kinda like the look of the cast units but dont see them a lot??? This unit is the best of the best as the two bolt crab front mount. 22 degrees of advance at 2500 rpm and they will crank on upward of 5000 rpm with the small cam and individual contact points.... |

Bubba, is a crab with a pertronix conversion any better than the stock dual point set up? Cant wait to get my two crabs back from you! Shane

Re: "Crabby Monday !" at Bubbas
We do use the pertronixs electronic unit in the 42-48 Crab but i see no need to move away from the contacts..The contacts ( properly done) last a long time and works very well.

Well , got them done monday and came in first thing this morning to test and run on machine for some break in.........
Five units and only two had to have the contacts aligned , good average !! Close up of the insides of one of the cast units..... |

Most of the 11A two bolt Crab Canadian distributors here are the cast iron types, the aluminium types are rarely seen. I do not like the aluminium types very much.

I have 2 of those iron crabs, I've had a few in my many years, I've always liked them, they always seem to feel good, bushing tight ect. Walt

They are quite a bit heavier and have a different sound at rpm etc.....Could be my favorite unit..

Also the Vacuum advance cylinder does not wear out as much as the aluminium distributor housings I get a better vacuum reading with the cast iron types and some of the cast iron housings even have a bronze bush inside the vacuum cylinder.
