tcp global lacquer paint
Looking for any comments of tcp global lacquer paint. I am looking to paint my roadster with lacquer. I am going to be painting it red. looking at their list of reds I see they have a ford tractor red. their lacquer paint kits and primer seem very reasonable. thanks for any input or comments.

As someone that has been in auto collision repair and refinishing, you get what you pay for when it comes to paint. And what ever brand you choose to use, you should use all products the same brand from the bare metal to the finish coats. Not all components of different brands are compatable. Your money and labor so make your choice. I never use off brand products.

Re: tcp global lacquer paint
I respect the skill and knowledge of the pro auto painters. But you guys can pass the price of a $200 quart can of paint to the insurers. But a hobbyist like myself is no way paying that. and also I feel the few paint makers have a monopoly. I was very thankful to find TCP Global. I used their acrylic enamel system 2 qt color, 1 gal black, all hardeners, reducers, spray gun, primer + hardener, pinstripe brush+paint and reducer, strainers and sticks and shipping. And they match any Model A color. $436 Total!! What's that 1/5 the price? The down side and there always is. The black had lumps in it so I strained it and it was fine. But I still called customer service. To let them know. And he said "We can send you an empty can to strain it into!!" I'am glad a doityourselfer like myself has this other option. Tim

Re: tcp global lacquer paint
I have had real good success with there single stage enamels and plan on using them for my finish paint as well. I think they have pretty good customer service.
Not to hijack this thread but has anyone worked with Bill Hisch's nitro lacquer??? I am really interested in laying some of that on also. |

Re: tcp global lacquer paint
Well I put my money where my mouth is. I always use nothing but Du Pont products on my cars as well as my customers. I can't charge of my paint to me or the Ins co to recover my cost. Probably the reason that black paint had lumps in it was because it wasn't properly stirred/shaken to get all the solids in solution plus it could have been old and settled out hence the need to shake or stir it very well.

Re: tcp global lacquer paint
I painted my Tudor in nitro lacquer from Hibernia in New Jersey. I found their quality to be great. I stopped by their space in Hershey and they are still mixing lacquers.

Re: tcp global lacquer paint
I think that it does. My Tudor is Bonnie Gray/Chelsea Blue and they do match the 3rd Addition of the Paint Guide as you can see by the attached picture. They do have the paint chips on hand.
