1935-1936 gauges
I understand the gauge face color between the 35 & 36 gauges but am not clear on the use of brown and red markings. I thought the standard models had brown and deluxe used red markings.
I have three 36 fuel gauges all with red, was brown used on the fuel gauges? Thank you in advance.

Re: 1935-1936 gauges
Early 1936 gauge face colors were carried over from the 1935 model. The shift from gray and red to various shades of brown was a running change in the 1936 model year.

Here is a bit more detail given by another FB member:
and a couple pictures for readers not familiar with the 35-36 color change. “The transition from red to brown gauges occurred in the spring of 36’ as part of the transition from painted dash and moldings to wood grain dash and moldings.”

Re: 1935-1936 gauges
Wasn't there a difference in the gauge faces/opening detail between 35 & 36??? I'e 35 was beveled inward toward the needle??? Like pictured here?? 36 was flat all the way to the edge of the opening and rounded over right at the edge like pictured above???

Re: 1935-1936 gauges
There are a lot of changes to the gauges and speedometers from 1935 to the end of 36 production. Also between the Deluxe and Standard vehicles. The V8 Club restoration book covers the changes very well.

Re: 1935-1936 gauges
I keep seeing gauges for 1936 that are single gauges. My 36 Fordor has duel purpose gauges, amp/temp on one and fuel/oil on the other. Are these original and where can I find replacements?

mmumley
Ford offered deluxe gauges with two indicators per gauge as you noted. The single gauges are the standard equipment gauges. At some point in 1936 Ford apparently started supplying the dual gauges in all vehicles. I'm not aware of any reproductions of any of these gauges, so if you want nice ones for your car which also work, you will need to find good originals or have some restored.
