Default 1940 Hood Safety Catch Spring

Hi
I am after information as to who makes/supplies the safety catch spring for the 1940 Ford.
I have a few catches but with broken springs,, so am needing only the springs
TIA

They do have a part numbers (01A-16897-A for Std and -B for Dlx) so were available but they are not remanufactured. There is one fellow on Ebxx that had some but wanted a lot of $ for each, so much so a NOS complete latch was nearly the same price. There are spring companies that can make the springs but they want to sell in quantity.

I bought one of those packs of universal throttle return springs from the parts store and was able to cut and bend one of those to match the broken original on mine.

You might be able to modify a spring form a '40's or '50's Ford truck. Carpenter list several different ones. Or maybe one from an early Bronco?
