Transmission shift lever, bottom end, should it be straight?
Should this part of the shaft be straight? I suspect it should be, but don’t know. A couple of books I have don’t mention it one way or the other. It doesn’t show up too well in the picture but it’s got a fair bend in it. I can straighten it after I rebuild the ball, if need be.
I understand that the ball should be round but on page 115 of Jim Schild’s book “Restorer’s Model a Shop Manual” it says that the ball should be built up on the front and rear, but do not build up the sides. What’s the consensus on this? Tnx, Ken

When I rebuilt my shifter I built up the sides. Had no problem.
