I have one of each. They both have their charms.

I couldn’t choose so I have a '23T, ‘29A, ‘37 pickup and '40 Fordor. Each has its own personality, use and charm.

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
Nope, not me. Guess it's just a matter of personal taste, so good for all you T guys. I appricate the Ts like you can't imagine, but in my mind they are no longer functional.
If I were ever to accept or make an offer on a Ford earlier than my 28 A it would have to be something special. Possibly a center-door, or a 1903. A guy in our club has two 1903s. One might be a 1904, but the same car. That one he has is perfect, and it runs! The Ts were a great car back in the day. |

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
I wanted an antique or vintage car, it could have been any brand or make. I fell into my 1921 basket case for a price I could afford. The plus for the Model T is the great parts network, and even with the parts price increasing all the time, can still find change to work on them. My 1920 Dodge, new parts prices, not so much.
Along the way I have also had; 1926 Big Six Studebaker, 1928 Chevrolet utility chassis, 1918 TT truck, 1918 T touring that I was putting together from parts and 1929 Ford Model A town sedan that was a real basket case. None of those were restored and were sold. I have also had and used for daily drivers; 1948 F2 (still have it), 1948 or 49 Studebaker pickup, 1946 Dodge 1 ton (my first truck in High School), 1950 Chevrolet 4 door fast back, 67 GTO, 65 Impala, several VW's, and pre 70 Plymouth/ Chrysler's, one or two mid 60's Chevrolet pickups, 58 Morris Minor. I also played with a Triumph TR 3-A, but only drove it on the road once, very very late at night. It was not exactly street legal seeing how it was missing a number of body parts! LOL

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
I had a Model A Tudor when I was 15. It was a great car but I sold it after 14 years for the down payment on a house. I got a basket case T 2 years after I bought the A. Somehow I've picked up 5 more T's but never another A. That's just the way it is for me.

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
My Dad was an A fanatic. I found mine when i was 20. One day while looking at pictures from a meet I noticed each T that I had shot received two views. After remarking to my wife this outcome she mounted a push to get one. We've had much fun working on it and riding on trips. I love the a to boops, but the T is a romance kind of a thing. Yes I have had her at the wheel.

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
I have a 29 Model A Phaeton and a 1915 Model T Touring. They both have a place in my stable.
The 29 is much better for driving at modern speeds with the Mitchel OD. My 15 is still a bit new to me and it has a Warford but I am yet to take it into over drive. I have a feeling with the Warford, modern distributor, alternator, high compression head and disk brakes it will have no problem holding 45 mph but I need more time behind the wheel to even try that. The T wins hands down for the cool factor and the historical significance. Its very fun to drive and i have no plans on ever selling the T or the A. Ron |

That high roof on the Model T Ford looks like it barely made it into the garage with very little to spare? |

The best will be the fact that we all have different preferences when it comes to cars. There is something about Model T that makes it special over Type A.

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
Get Both. My 29 Model A is better in modern traffic but my 1915 T is just so darn cool and with a Warford overdrive, disk brakes and high compression head its about as fast as my Model A. The 1915 may even be faster but its still new to me and I have not taken it past 45 and to be honest I do not think I will.

Here is a photo of 2 cars I once had. I liked them both equally.

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
I have a 1909 and a 1927 Model T, first and last production year. I also have a 1930 Model A Deluxe Phaeton (2 door convertible with back seat). I love them all. I tour with all of them. Yes the Model A is a little faster, but my 1909 Model T will do 42 MPH with her stock original factory engine. You have to drive a Model T to understand the addiction to them and are the most fun to drive, over the Model A. A few years ago I drove the 1927 Model T on a progressive tour around the lower penninsula of Michigan for 750 miles in 6 days and had an absolute blast. She never hick-uped, burped or farted once and drove like a new car. More bang for the buck than any of my more expensive cars in my collection. Get one. You will love it.

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
I have two T’s and 1 A. The Model T is more fun to work on due to some of their quirks and stellar technology of the times….

Re: What Made You Choose The Model T Over the A
My T was the first one that I ever saw, I then had many more including A,'s, AA's, T's and TT' before I was able to get the that T. Like HDowse I could not decide either so the T currently lives next to a 40, 4 door among others.
