Default Gas tank date stamp .

I have a 1930 AA truck with the 82 A cab with the bayonet gas cap . There is no date stamp on the tank . My 29 Town Sedan and 28 Phaeton have very clear stamps . Wondered if being with bayonet cap no stamp ? Just wondered .

John in Autumnal weather Suffolk County England .

I’ve not seen date stamps on 30-31. Have seen on 28-29.
Maybe just my inexperience( been around a lot more 31)and they did stamp 30-31.

I've got three of the early 30 tanks for the square 82-A cab. Could not find any date stamps in the usual place on the left side fire wall.

John, by bayonette gas cap, do you mean the 30-31 style without the fine threads? Have not heard that term used before.

The photo shows the 30-31 gas cap on an early 30 pickup with the 82-A square cab.

One more thing...Judging Standards (p. 1-7) says that tanks were date stamped between mid 28 through September of 29. So the early 30 tanks should not have a date stamp.
Would be interesting if someone could dig up an early 30 tank with a date stamp? Probably not.

I figure that Ford was proving their roller resistance welding system that they assembled the upper and lower parts with. The weld had to seal the fuel well enough to prove itself. They were likely reliable enough to negate the need to keep track of them after enough time went by with little or no warranty come backs.
