Default Lost another one last night: Pat Douglass

Last night at 9:30 Pat Douglass past away. He has been involved with model a's since i believe he was bout 12 years old, when he received a 1929 sports coupe. But Pat was a founding member of the Cross Timbers model a club in stephenville, texas. He was a 34 year member of the Fort Worth model a club, in which he held just about every position available in the club. He also was an original low number member of mafca when it first started, but dropped his membership due to lack of money to pay the dues, until he rejoined again back in the 70's. He restored a 1931 Coupe and put about 75,000 miles on the restoration touring around the country, he also had a 1930 town sedan, that he put around 20,000 miles on, and he restored his 1965 mustang that he was the original owner on and owned until he passed away.

He not only did all this, but he taught my brother and I pretty much all we know about model A's. He was our grandfather, and raised us in the model a club, and took us everywhere he went, until we got old enough to drive, then we took him. Because of him, i stayed out of trouble while growing up because i was always in the garage with him, and he taught me to take pride in everything you do and don't settle for something that you know isn't the best of you ability. It is because of him, i am on this forum, and i have met so many new friends all across the country and that im apart of this wonderful family of Model A'ers.

I read your post and thought to myself how great a job he did on being a grandfather. Your two paragraphs speak volumes about your grandpa... I hope I am doing that good of a job. He left a legacy with you and your brother. He must have been quite a man. My condolences to you and your family...

Logan, I have known your grandfather for many years since I too have been both a member of the Cowtown A's (now inactive) and MAFCA since 1964. He was a great man and I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and the family. Jim Langley...

For any local barners, the funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Thompson's Haveson & Cole funeral home in Fort Worth. Thank you everyone for your condolences. If you do come, we ask that you please drive your model a in his memory to the hobby he loved.

Sorry for your loss. I agree with Jim. From experience my grandfather has lived on in much the same way, through his stories and different things he taught me.

Logan and Jordan, Im sorry to hear of the loss of your grandfather. My condolences to you both and the family.

I never met my greatgrandfather that owned the A's and T's that my dad and i both own now, but i learned from my dad just as you describe you both did with your grandfather. I was born in 1992 and he passed away in 1987. its good to know that there are others like myself into the hobby and enjoying it every day.

Logan, I offer my condolences too, although I am more inclined to congratulate you. Not only on your post, and what a great job you did giving us a verbal picture of the fine man your Grandfather was, but also because you HAD such a mentor in your life. Take it from me; I knew very little about my grandparents, and most of what I did know wasn't good (few exceptions). I rarely saw them, or rather they rarely made an effort to see me. You are one lucky guy! May God bless your family thru this tough time.
