Spring cover installation
I’ve searched old threads and service bulletins for help with this, but it’s still not clear to me what the correct installation process is.
Springs are installed on the car. Covers are supplied by Snyders. I’m starting with the front spring. Felts are oil-soaked and I’ve applied extra grease on the top of the spring that will be covered. I think the wider end of the cover goes toward the cross member, with the fastener on the bottom ?? Since the front spring on this car has 12 leaves on it, the cover barely wraps around the spring at the crossmember. Any tips for getting the cover up into the cross member for the thicker end of the spring ? Thanks, Jim |

Re: Spring cover installation
I have spring covers on both of my Model A's, and they make a significant difference in their rides qualities. The covers have a felt reservoir that needs saturation with a high viscosity oil such as 75W145 gear oil. Install the covers so the felts are on top of the springs. First spray the springs with oil such as WD40 to start capillary action between the leaves.
After a season of driving, replenish the oil in covers
