Default Remind me about opening a door - please

Forgot as it's been 60 some years ... do Ford product doors have a detent to HOLD them open? Or just a stop-framus-dingus to prevent the door from opening too far?

I observe a 1/2" wide sturdy bar from my 50 Merc body swiveling into each door. On today's cars that bar would possess detent inside the door to provide a resistance, holding the door open against the wind or gravity, the force of which is easily overcome when closing the door.

I don't want to remove a door panel to learn this so I ask you. Detent or no?

My '41 has stop/detent on all doors. Believe most have the same.

Is there a way to fix the detent? the one on my '51 Merc. drivers door does not hold the door open anymore, it closes it self. irritating sometimes.
