1940 Ford draglink question
I'm replacing the old worn aftermarket draglink on my 40 coupe with a nos unit and the end with the short tie rod end was attached on the spindle. My 36 and 48 have the short end attached at the pitman arm. Which is correct? Thanks for your help, Dale.

If you have the type with an adjusting sleeve, it is incorrect for a 1940 Ford. In that case, it really does not matter what direction each end goes. The picture attached shows both ends of ONE drag link, proper for 1940. It also depicts the proper seals, etc.

Re: 1940 Ford draglink question
Well one is shorter than the other, so the short adjustable end goes to the spindle, right? Thank you for the information, Dale.

Re: 1940 Ford draglink question
Perhaps this will help.
I just took these of my 40 Ford. It's stock except for the dropped axle, dropped steering arms and reversed spring. I also double nutted the perch bolts as a support for my jack and installed tube shocks. The pictorial is from the Chassis Parts Book. |
