Re: Bonneville
'interested'...Yeah !
Dan offered me one, maybe this one, but I hesitated /procrastinated Regretted since. Dan Eubanks was/is one heck of an innovator ! Have some of his stuff in one of my Bs, including his full B sized drilled 3 main cranks...Wished he hadn't retired... Last edited by hardtimes; 08-18-2016 at 01:56 AM. Reason: ............... |

Re: Bonneville
Thanks for posting this stuff. I've wanted to make a trip out there for many years.
Now that my "ball and chain" is gone (lol), I might make it out there. |

Re: Bonneville
Mark,
yes, not this Saturday, but in a couple. Derek, planned? I was just glad to be there, some others made one run and then left. Jim, Thank you, I have a pile of them and mech pumps to boot. Look out. The failures were just dumb, main disconnect switch and data power switch. Creel mentioned several times he had a spare pump and mag in the trailer. John

Re: Bonneville
Hey John,
'data power switch'....hm, what and where do I locate it, and will it make this rig run better ? I've got the mag and like Jim B says...bullet proof, but 'data power switch' !!!! BTW How does a four banger sound at 150mph + ? Last edited by hardtimes; 08-19-2016 at 12:26 PM. Reason: ............ |

Re: Bonneville
Hi Jim
Not to hijack your post, but I figured you wouldn't mind. Several guys asked about Steve Nelson, I haven't talked to Steve and Jeanne since we left them Monday AM at the Sinclair Station, my wife and I had dinner with them last night, so I collected a little data on their runs this year. Even though they pitted right next to where I was with Martinez, it seems like you don't have time to talk with every thing going on. For those that don't know, Steve has switched engines, now that he has his banger record at 201 mph. Steve is trying for another record in another class using an Iron Duke (Pontiac) block 4 cyl. engine with a Aries head, this combo is in use on the tracks and offshore in 4 and 8 cylinder applications. This meet was his first effort with this new combo. His first run was short with a buddy driving checking out the conditions. A staffer told me that the long course had 3 spots that were wetter than preferred. I personally saw 3 car runs in a row pull off at the same place near the 3 mile without mechanical problems. Maybe it was the shorter wheel base lighter cars having handling concerns, the big guys with heavier cars were making 400+ mph passes. His last run he said it was rough and slippery he pulled off after mile 2 at 195 mph with 2000 rpm's left. Steve hasn't found your post, I thought it was on the HAMB, I will call him and correct that, he may have more info to share. Jim, I may fly out for the last dry lakes meet in Oct. maybe we can get together if you can make it, I will bring some of that "Good" Sonoma red wine! Steve

FYI, I've found that 'the other' Eubanks (that Moser ran in 4e4 lakester), is indeed the one that Dan (aka crazydaddeo) shows here. So 2 Eubanks made to run is total. |
