Default Shock links

I'm putting my 37 back together. Does anyone know if the shock links are supposed to be painted? Thanks

From the "The 37 Ford Book", page 4-9:
"It appears from factory photos that the shock absorbers arrived at the assembly line unpainted and were sprayed with thin black paint at "chassis tough up"." This may or may not apply to the links. In the book, pictures of the links indicate (to me) the links were unpainted, for what it's worth...

And,
in the same book, Appendix D, page A-14, it goes on to say that the shock arms and links were also painted black, similar to the absorber itself.
