Default Hershey

Went to Hershey yesterday and I don't think I have ever seen better weather!!Sunny, brisk temps and slight breeze, made for comfortable walking up each aisle. Spent a ton of money in tolls, gas and parking, but if I had only taken a $10 bill with me I to spend on parts, I would have taken home change. Saw a lot of interesting sights though. A steam powered motorcycle from 1913. Had the name Loco on the tank. Was that short for Locomobile who built steam cars, or a comment on the owners frame of mind? Also saw the dual nose 1937 Lincoln Zephyr. It is just as ugly in person as it is in the pictures that I have seen over the years. The Way of The Zephyr did an article on it just a few months back. Seems that it was in long term storage. I was surprised to see that there was just as much surface rust on it as there was paint. The interior appears to be in fair condition. One of those deals of should it be restored or not?

I was disappointed to not find parts that I needed, but enjoyed talking with different people and seeing the sights. I guess that is half the fun.

Tagman,
I was there. Commented to my wife on how few 36 parts there were. What field did I have a Senior moment or go blind? I saw tons of Model T & A parts. Quite a bit of 32 stuff. Some 37, particularly grills but little 36. I did run out of time and missed Orange.
Weather was great, car corral prices crazy high.

36 parts: I saw a complete front clip with inner fenders and horns, several rear fenders of both styles, a rumble lid, a pair of running boards, three sets of spiders, three clock mirrors, cabriolet and convertible sedan doors, three cabriolet dashes, and several grills. One space had about 20 NOS '35 and '36 gauges.

I saw a pair of NOS 36 front fenders in the south Chocolate field. No price, but they were still there Friday afternoon. I ran out of stuff to sell, didn't find much but I did score a KR Wilson steering wheel puller for 32-up, never saw one in the metal before, this saves me from building one.

I was looking for the center grille moulding for my 1939 PU. I guess I had as much chance of finding that as I would a pound of $20s for a dime. Wanted a fender for the right front better than the one I have. Found one, but it was in worse shape.

Did see a K.R. Wilson engine stand, complete with a special mount, I think for a Packard. Appeared to be in excellent shape for $995. Saw a 1939 or 40 heater for $225. not a bad price. Lots of '32 parts and '35 and '36 grilles. Would like to go back and cover more ground. Did not touch the White, Blue or Chocolate Fields. So much ground to cover, so little time to do it.

I got 3 NOS rear shocks, there was the largest collection of radio controls I have ever seen(20+ at the same booth), nos oil pans, nos muffler, spring perches, 5+ nice grilles, gas tanks, gauges, axles.

I didn't find the 4th nos drum, the lf door latch, the trunk hinge for my car ---I did get a NOS "A" crankshaft

I got there tuesday night, walked most of the rows, but even so you don't have time to see everything ---to really look in every booth I think would take a month.

Check posts #'s 6 & 7. I bought a very nice parking brake lever assembly ($10.00 !), saw at least 10 grills, A trunk lid, several front fenders, 2-sets of coupe rear fenders, sedan rear fenders. two dashboards, one with gages, etc.

I was amazed at how many '36 parts there were. I was also amazed at some of the prices !!

Hey,
I must have just missed those few spots loaded with 36 parts...bummer
I did see the 2 KR Wilson engine stands, the 2 fenders at $ 900 each and several grills. Still say that I would have been in heaven if I was still into A's. When I was into A's in the 1980's, Model A parts were scarce. Guess they are coming out of the barns now.

Got to Hershey myself on Friday...same result...talked to alot of interesting people, learned something new....but didn't spend much as it's difficult to locate what you need..and things you want are way overpriced.

My approach to Hershey is to go looking for nothing and come home with a truckload of parts.

I was at C2C -66, a lot of empty spaces both in front, behind, and left & right. Pretty good sales. Found a flathead H&C ignition, and vintage SW gauges ges among other items. The guys in gasoline alley say that Tuesday, or set up day is the best, followed by Wed. They pack up and go home at the end of the day Wed.

Couldn't make it this year, but was the overall attendance down? I know some of my buddies didn't go because of gas prices.
