Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
Wow… It’s been a crazy couple of weeks here at the brand spanking new Ford Barn World Headquarters. Acquiring the Ford Barn was not in the cards for this year, but we just couldn’t sit idly buy and let the doors close. We’d simply gotten too much out of the joint in the past to let that happen. A quick phone call to every man’s hero, Shelly, and the deed was done. Now you fellas have to put up with me as I try like hell to fill her huge shoes. The first order of business was to get the Ford Barn into a more modern environment. You are looking at the new threads right now… Ain’t she grand? This was done for two primary reasons: 1. The old Ford Barn data is priceless and we wanted it preserved and searchable. The new format will allow us to search all of the great posts of old and learn from our past… and that’s what we are all about, right? While the old data has not been imported yet, it will be very soon. Hold your horses. 2. The old Ford Barn was also hard to use, full of spam, and just downright impossible to maintain. The new format fixes all of this and gives all of you many more options as far as functionality. Now, I’m sure there is a contingent of you that is resistant to change. I get it. And I’m going to try as hard as I can to ease you into this new format. Take your time, be patient, and you just might be surprised with what we have put together here. A good place to start is with the basic tutorial I put together for you. Click here to check it out. The rest of you are probably pretty familiar with our format. Jump in and have fun… This all for you. To close, I just want to thank Shelly once again for giving me this opportunity. She has served this community so well over the years and I am honored to pick up the torch and give it my all as well. See you fellas on the flip side. Ryan Cochran P.S. There are bound to be some bugs and broken links floating around the new site. If you see any, just post them on the Q&S forum. I’ll get em fixed! |

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
You are the man, Ryan - this looks, feels great. Maybe I'm biased as I've been on the HAMB for awhile but I hope the not-so-computer-literates can get up to speed quickly.
Thank you so, so much for keeping the Ford Barn alive and well - Shelly, you really started something great and we will always be in your debt. |

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
Ryan,
I could very easily find a way to like this even more than the HAMB. I love the new FordBarn. Also love the "Hot Rods & Customs" forum link that goes straight to the HAMB. In my mind, the FordBarn is all about original, restored, & hopped up Early Fords. That link to the HAMB will hopefully help keep the FordBarn all Ford. Thanks for all you're doing. Jim |

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
Just popping over from the HAMB. With Ryan involved all here will be enjoying this forum as I have the HAMB. There will be lots of interesting conversation and you may not all agree with some of them. There is a mountain of information out there and this can be a place to learn and teach. Enjoy everyone and can't wait to see the rest of the logo. I see that I'm member number 662 already.

For all of us who frequent your other Bboards, this is very user friendly, so thanks for that.
One Question - what about all those adverts from the old site - will they be transferred (within reason) onto this site? |

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
I can't say enough,,I have always love the Ford Barn but absolutely dreaded looking through all the ads trying to find what I was looking for,,,nothing against Shelly,,she kept it going and alive for a long time and did a great job,,,
But the new format,,which is similar to that of the other sites under the Atomic Industry's banner makes it so easy to find the correct starting point,,and I feel sure that even the most ardent hard core Old Ford Barn user's will be converts in a very short period of time if they will give it a chance! Like Harrison said in a earlier post,,it's all about the Ford's,,please keep it that way.HRP Last edited by HOTRODPRIMER; 05-09-2010 at 12:04 PM. |

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
I like the idea of signing into the "new Barn". It keeps the spammers out. This was done on the Early Ford V-8 Club site a while ago and some left the site because of the sign-in requirement and headed for "the Barn". Hopefully they will get used to signing in here and not leave. All the new changes are great and we appreciate all the hard work that is put into running a website.

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
I've been avid follower FordBarn for several years and have learned/absorbed an enormous amount of info about our flatheads. I kinda dreaded going under the learning curve again but have been pleasantly surprised how smoothly the transition has gone. Thanks Shelley for all your hard work and congratulations to Ryan for keeping the Barn alive and obviously well. Ken

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
Thanks Ryan.....may be somewhat overwhelming to beginners, is there a place we can go for info to maybe answer for ourselves little silly questions....something like 'why are the first few threads bold type and the rest aren't?', you know, stuff we may feel is too trivial to ask about?

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
Yes, that was really just an example of a "question too trivial to ask about" in reference to trying to find some help for those that are having a hard time and aren't 'computer savvy' ........ something to make their experience here better so they wouldn't leave or quit posting.

Hey Ryan, you are the man, good to see you have saved Ford Barn. I've been on the
H.A.M.B. for a year or two and love it . I'll be a regular here also, so I can cover my 68 Ford wagon, it just dosn't fit on the H.A.M.B. , now I feel I've got a place to talk about it. Thanks again Ryan ............Jack |

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
Cool a board dedicated to just Fords. This maybe better for me. Less time spent searching through post for Ford related stuff.
Good job I also love your board format. Rich

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
Never even heard of the Ford Barn until Ryan got a hold of it, and now, here I am. Funny how things work out, FB being in danger of closing for good has probably led to a sizable increase in membership. Some will say that's bad, but most will agree that it's a good thing.

Mattstrube, good looking 39 standard coupe, could we see some more photos of it? I have one that I bought in 1965, very good body, and I plan to build it as soon as I finish the 40 coupe that I am building now. Thanks, Tom

Hello, When you first took over the site I complained and said I didn't like it and would probably not watch it in the future. I need a good recipe for cooking crow since I now need to eat some. The site is fine and you are doing a great job and thank you. Phil Spaid

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
As a new member and new to the Ford Family ( I am in my mid 20's restoring a 40 truck to its era of old), I would just like to say thanks to all those before me and those after that continue to give advice to those of us starving for knowledge. Within the last couple of weeks my knowledge has expand by leaps and bounds. Thanks to you guys for offering priceless advice and time to explain even the most simple tasks. Without this site, I wouldn't know where to turn for help. Thanks

Henry Ford would be proud of The Ford Barn! I'm glad to be part of it myself. But isn't turning the Ford Emblem upside down like flying Old Glory upside down?

I just joined too. One of the most user friendly, FRIENDLY and informative sites yet. Great job Ryan!!!!!!
Nippy, After you have opened the early va8 page go to the upper left corner of the page and click on The Ford Barn. When that opens, go down to swap meet and select For Sale. Click on early v8 and you should be on your way. |

Re: Welcome To The New Ford Barn!
Well I thought I'd join up too. I've been on the HAMB since 2003 but as I get older my tastes in cars tends more towards stockers. I run a one man rod shop in Germany, but tend to prefer traditional rods anyway. I'm 43, have just finished building my our own house for me, my beautiful German wife and our three lovely children.
I mostly build original style reproduction 1932 chassis which look as close to genuine as I can possibly make them. I love most Fords but '32-'48 are my favorites. The '42 Continental in the picture was one of just 200 built. Wish I still had that car. Ed www.edsrodshop.de I make nice reproduction 1932 pedal boxes for converting to hydraulic brakes Last edited by edwardlloyd; 12-09-2011 at 09:25 AM. |
